Rock-Pond powers MHA’s Business Solution Center

Managed Healthcare Associates, Inc. (MHA), a leading health care service company focused on alternate site health care providers, has engaged Rock-Pond Solutions to develop their next generation business information platform for their members. As a result, Rock-Pond has entered into an exclusive relationship with MHA to develop and support the MHA Business Solutions Center which will be introduced at the 2011 National Home Infusion Association conference in Orlando, April 4-7.

The MHA Business Solutions Center is a framework to deliver industry and member-specific information to MHA members. The initial release contains a Member Resource Center with industry news and company-specific information for members, a comprehensive drug recall management system to alert members when drugs in their inventory are recalled, a file system to organize and view member-specific GPO reports and a base set of inventory and profitability reports from Rock-Pond Solutions to deliver information directly from their pharmacy dispensing system. The Business Solutions Center is an application the member will install and manage on their internal network and with connections to their pharmacy dispensing and billing system. The application will also have access to additional data sources in the Rock-Pond data warehouse to expand the reporting functionality.

According to Diane Koontz, MHA’s Sr. Vice President of Alternate Site, “Delivering the data and information our members need has always been a cornerstone of the MHA value proposition. With the enhanced reports that we’re developing in conjunction with Rock-Pond Solutions, MHA members will have access to a series of business solutions that provide GPO purchasing, revenue and inventory management tools. This will change the way infusion and specialty providers do business.”

Rock-Pond’s transition from a reporting company to a software company began last year with the release of the Rock-Pond Information Center.  As health care has become more complex and information-driven and with the changes in the home infusion and specialty pharmacy industries, it became critical to be able to bring data together from many different sources to get the information needed to make business decisions. Rock-Pond built a core set of technologies that powers our software applications and with the MHA partnership we are expanding this tool set to power those of other leading health care service companies.

The MHA Business Solutions Center is available free to MHA primary members. For more information on MHA or becoming an MHA member, visit their website at www.mhainc.com or call them at 800-642-3020.

Rock-Pond’s president, Pete Tanguay, will present “Understanding and Reducing the Costs of Billing and Getting Paid” on April 13 at the 2010 NHIA Annual Conference in Dallas, TX. Originally Pete was asked by the NHIA educational committee on cost effective use of technology in a home infusion department.  He pointed out that technology is only as good as the problem it solves and understanding and reducing reimbursement costs is very high on the priority list of home infusion providers.

The preliminary course outline is as follows:  “The reimbursement process begins with a patient referral and ends with payment for services, or at least this is the plan. There are specific costs associated with this process and additional costs incurred when you don’t do each area well. This program will present a comprehensive reimbursement model along with specific metrics and recommendations to follow in order to minimize the cost and time it takes to get paid for services. It will emphasize the advantage of using technology to measure and streamline your reimbursement process.”

Rock-Pond Solutions will also be exhibiting at the conference.
